At DHCM We Believe...
1. There is only one God who created the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, each fully God and are one God, and yet each are personally distinct from the other in the Trinity.
2. Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless human life and willingly offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead bodily and ascended to Heaven and is at the right hand of the Father. He will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
3. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin and their need for Christ. He draws people to Christ and indwells in every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power to live for God, and understand spiritual truth. He gives every believer a spiritual gift so that they may serve the Church and reach the lost.
4. The Bible is God's infallible, inerrant Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth and final authority for Christian belief and life.
5. All human beings are made in the image of God, to be like Him in character, to live in fellowship with God. However, sin brought separation from God and apart from Jesus Chrsit, all people are spiritually dead and deserve eternal death. However, God gives salvation and eternal life to those who believe and trust in Jesus Christ and in His sacrifice on his/her behalf. Salvation is God's gift to us that must be received by repentance and faith in Chrsit and His finished work on the cross. Therefore, salvation cannot be earned through human goodness or effort.
6. The genuine believer is secure in salvation because it is God's gift to us. A believer does not keep salvation by what he/she does, or accomplish. Genuine believer is secure because of the grace and power of God.
7. All believers are members of the body of Christ, the universal Church of God. The local Church is a fellowship of believers who gather for worship, prayer, teaching, mutual accountability, and community. The local Church is "the hope of the world" because through the local Church, believers are to invest their time, gifts, and resources to fulfill the Great Commision and the Great Commandment, becoming healthy, growing, disciple making followers of Jesus Christ. Therefore, through the local Church, all believers are to impact their family, community, and the world.
